Bent Comments - Ipswich Town News
Two-goal hero Marcus Bent says he was 'gutted' when Alan Shearer scored Newcastle's equaliser and he could hardly believe it when referee Mike Riley gave the Toon a dubious penalty just minutes later.
Bent had been subsituted before the goal and the penalty and commented: "I came off the pitch and thought we were on the way to victory until Shearer scored. That left me gutted and I can't tell you what was going through my mind when the referee gave a penalty. It was unbelievable, the thought of going from three points to none in just a couple of minutes.
"If Shearer had scored from the spot it would have demoralised us because we didn't deserve to lose. The players really worked hard and you have to do that when you come to places like Newcastle."
