Chambo Aiming for Unbeaten Christmas - Ipswich Town News
Skipper Luke Chambers says the Blues face Brighton at the Amex Stadium this evening aiming to be unbeaten during their three Christmas-New Year fixtures.
Town have won their last four games away from home, beating Rotherham, Charlton, the MK Dons and Fulham, and will be out to equal a club record of five successive victories on the road.
The Blues, who travel to Burnley on Saturday, got their holiday programme off to the ideal start with Chambers netting a last-gasp winner as they beat QPR 2-1 at Portman Road on Boxing Day.
"We go to Brighton looking to win again and looking to go unbeaten over the Christmas period,” Chambers said.
"Overall our away form over 18 months has not been great, yet recently we have been doing very well, although I couldn’t say why that is.
"We have been beating teams below us in the league, so it is our opportunity now to test ourselves against a team that has been setting the pace.
"We are looking up rather than down now and we want to stay in the top six and we know the next couple of games will be difficult but we need to beat teams above us.”
Town won five away games in a row for what is currently the only time in the club’s history between October and December 1976 when Sir Bobby Robson’s side beat Bristol City 2-1, West Ham 2-0, Manchester United 1-0, Middlesbrough 2—0 and Birmingham 4-2.
