On-loan Town central defender Matt Clarke went straight back into the Portsmouth side having been unavailable for the FA Cup replay against the Blues in midweek but Pompey fell to a 1-0 home defeat to fellow League Two promotion challengers Oxford United.
Clarke played the full 90 minutes as Portsmouth dropped to sixth following the loss to the division’s fourth-placed side.
Elsewhere, Josh Yorwerth played the full 90 minutes but was booked as Crawley lost 2-1 at Yeovil Town.
