Town midfielder Teddy Bishop is expected to return to training in early March having utilised the expertise of Team GB as he has sought to shake off the injuries which have prevented him from making a senior appearance this season.
The 19-year-old initially broke down in pre-season and has subsequently made a number of abortive attempts to get back to action.
"Bish’s pre-season work was curtailed due to bilateral medial tibial stress syndrome, commonly known as shin splints,” Town physio Matt Byard explained to the club site.
"Subsequent adjustments to his conditioning programme then contributed to a muscular strain to his right hamstring.
"Bish did some further strength and conditioning work and was able to complete his individualised pre-season programme during September.
"He returned to full training and played for the U21s in October but then suffered a tear to his right hamstring tendon, which is completely different to a hamstring muscle injury and can be a significant problem.
"He was seen in London by the British Olympic doctor, Noel Pollock. He has had a course of injections to his lower back and hamstring muscles and has continued a lower limb strength and endurance programme.
"Recently he attended Team GB’s Intensive Rehab Unit at Bisham Abbey as part of his recovery.
"He is making good progress and we anticipate his rehabilitation to continue outside within the next two weeks and are scheduling a return to training in early March.”
Town’s other long-term injury absentee David McGoldrick is also making progress having been out with a hamstring problem since mid-December.
