Hyam and Douglas Back, Malarczyk Out - Ipswich Town News

Midfielders Luke Hyam and Jonathan Douglas are available after injury and suspension respectively ahead of Tuesday’s home game against Hull City but central defender Piotr Malarczyk misses out having had a kidney stone.

Regarding Hyam, who has missed the last two games with a calf injury, McCarthy said: "He’s fine, he’s trained the back end of last week and this week now, so he’s fully fit and raring to go.”

The Town boss had no new injuries to report: "They’re all OK. We’ve got Dougie back from suspension, who I thought was excellent prior to that and a little bit unlucky with his three-match ban.

"To have him and Luke back has added a a bit to our midfield and options for tomorrow night.”

With Hyam and Douglas both available again, the Town manager says he’s not currently looking for loan additions.

"That’s on the back burner really,” he added. "We’ve got two good players coming back and with the ones we already have, we’re OK.”

Polish defender Malarczyk has been left out of the 18 for recent games and McCarthy says he won’t be involved against the Tigers.

"Peter’s had a kidney stone,” he said. "Painful I believe, I hope I never find out. He had the procedure done on Wednesday, I’ve spoken to him this morning and he’s fine now. But he’s not trained and isn’t ready for the squad but the stone has gone."

The Town boss says David McGoldrick and Teddy Bishop continue to make progress after their hamstring injuries but isn’t putting a date on their returns.

"Of course, but as to exactly when they’ll be back I don’t know, I’ve no idea,” he said.

"They ought to be out on the grass [soon], but that’s only just starting their running. I wouldn’t out a time on it, but I’m hopeful before the end of the season, definitely.”

Ryan Fraser (hamstring), Cole Skuse (toe) and Giles Coke (knee) also remain sidelined, while keeper Dean Gerken is fit after his shoulder injury and seems likely to be on the bench with Bartosz Bialkowski having been in outstanding form in recent games.
