Town boss Mick McCarthy doesn’t expect to add to his squad before Saturday’s game at Huddersfield as he’s yet to find anyone to come in who is better than the players already in his squad.
"Not really, but I’m looking around,” he said when asked if it was likely there’d be a new addition before the weekend.
"I can always go and get somebody, but is it going to be somebody that’s going to make us better? I haven’t found that one yet.”
He says sometimes it’s the case that a target isn’t made available by their club and on other occasions a player doesn’t want to go out on loan.
"It's a bit of both. That was before in the transfer window and it’s still the same position really,” he continued.
"Maybe you can get some in, but it’s who you want and getting them in, and that’s not been the case.”
He added: "They’ve got to come in and play and be better than what we’ve got. And, I might say, we all start looking elsewhere for answers and the reality is that the answer might just have to be in-house and perhaps we’ve all got to play that little bit better, be that little bit more confident.
"How you get confident is by getting a result. I thought the first half on Tuesday was good. I’ve watched it again and I’ve no reason to think otherwise, that could have gone either way, the first half.
"It changed on the goal and they proved what a good side they were after that. But we may well have to sort it out in here without outside help or influence.”
The Town boss has been impressed with his most recent loan recruit, midfielder Ben Pringle.
"I was pleased with him, I have been in both his games,” he said. "The one thing we did get was deliveries from freekicks and corners and I thought he gave us a good balance on that side.
"And even when he went on the right-hand side before he went off he put one good delivery in that Murph got on the end of. I’m pleased with him and the more games he has the better he’ll get, I’ve no doubt.”
