Robinson Enjoying Loan Spell - Ipswich Town News

Blues boss Mick McCarthy says young defender Joe Robinson is enjoying being out on loan at Vanarama National League Woking, despite his debut for the Cards ending in a 3-1 defeat at Grimsby on Tuesday. Town U21 captain Robinson, 19, joined Woking on a month’s loan on Monday.

"I’ve just been speaking to him,” McCarthy said. "Despite the fact they lost 3-1, he was pleased with his performance and I believe they were too and it’s just progress for him to go out at National League level with Woking.

"He’s enjoyed it. He’s really pleased with the fact that he’s gone out playing competitive football."

McCarthy says he’d welcome requests to take some of his other young players on loan to get some senior football under their belts.

"I got the call from Woking saying they needed a striker or a centre-back and had we got any,” he added.

"Joe was the first one that came to mind really, somebody who needs to go out and play and get a bit of experience playing at that level or at league level.

"We haven’t got any centre forwards we can lend them but somebody else might have to ring me about somebody else, I can’t go around touting my players about. But if they get a chance, of course.”

Robinson and Woking are back at Blundell Park to take on Grimsby again on Saturday, this time in an FA Trophy quarter-final.
