Luke Hyam is fit for Saturday’s home game against Nottingham Forest, while Town manager Mick McCarthy is hopeful that Cole Skuse will be OK for Tuesday’s game at Bolton, however, the Blues boss says one or two other unnamed players have minor niggles which will be assessed ahead of tomorrow’s match.
Hyam missed the 1-0 win at Huddersfield last week having suffered a hamstring problem in the game against Hull City.
"He’s fine, he’s trained today, he’s good to go,” McCarthy said. "There might be some other issues but I’m just waiting until tomorrow to see, so I’m sorry you’ll have to wait.
"It’s a busy little spell and we’ve just got a few bumps and bruises and I’m going to give them as much time to be fit or not.”
Skuse has been out with a toe ligament problem since the QPR match but is very close to making his return, while Piotr Malarczyk is available again having had a kidney stone and Giles Coke is set to return to training after his knee injury, also sustained at Loftus Road.
"We’re hopeful Skusey might be available for Tuesday, that’s great. That’s ahead of schedule,” McCarthy added.
"Peter’s fine, he’s trained today. Giles Coke is hoping to be out training at the weekend.”
The Town boss says Ryan Fraser is making progress as he undergoes his rehab from the hamstring injury he suffered at QPR back with his parent club AFC Bournemouth.
"I spoke to Ryan Fraser in the week,” he said. "He’d been training, I think he just felt it slightly.
"I think in all honesty the timeline for him, hopefully, will see him maybe getting on the bus for Wolves. It would be brilliant if he could. That would be four weeks’ time.”
The Blues manager says long-term absentees David McGoldrick and Teddy Bishop are also doing well as they recover from their hamstring injuries.
"They’ve both been out, they’ve done a lot of work this week,” McCarthy said.
"We’ve just pulled Bish back today, but Didzy came back and trained again and did a lot of work, so he’s looking very positive. And so is Bish, we just pulled him out because he’d done enough.”
