Town midfielder Kevin Bru has hailed his goal in the midweek draw at Bolton as the greatest of his entire career.
It was his second of the season — he was also on target in the draw at Brentford on the opening day — and only his third since becoming an Ipswich player in the summer of 2014, his first coming in the last minute of the 4-2 home win over Birmingham in February last year.
Bru said: "It was a great goal at Bolton because until then Bolton were playing really well and it was against the run of play.
"Bolton had chances to score but didn’t take any of them and when I scored the goal the game was not in our favour. For us to go 1-0 up at that stage was very good.
"I made up my mind when Christophe [Berra] played the ball back to me that I was going to shoot hard.
"I made a good connection but I didn’t know it would be such a spectacular goal. It was great to see the way the ball flew into the net and it is definitely the best goal I have scored in my entire career.
"I have a good shot but sometimes it is hard to get into the right positions to use it. I play on the right and in the middle but if a chance like that comes along again I will do the same and shoot.
"I would like to score more goals so hopefully I will do it again before the end of the season.”
Bru’s preferred role is in the centre of midfield but he has recently been filling in on the right as Town struggle to cope with the absence through injury of the likes of Cole Skuse and Ryan Fraser.
The Paris-born Mauritius international, who was previously with Levski Sofia in Bulgaria, added: "It is not difficult to be on the right because we play a narrow midfield.
"When we lose the ball I need to go out right in a 4-3-3, which is a little bit different, but I try to do my best for the team and I think the gaffer is happy if I do that.
"I started the season well with a goal at Brentford on the opening day but then I had an injury that I thought would keep me out for a month but it actually took longer than that to fully recover.
"When I do play I try to do my best but when you are in and out of the team it doesn’t do a lot for your fitness.
"I have had some good games, others not so good, but now that I am playing more regularly I am feeling stronger all the time.
"It is hard in this league when your body is not 100 per cent — very difficult because you need to run a lot.
"The intensity is not the same in France and other countries. Here in England you need to run, run and run some more. It is far more demanding so the fitter and stronger you are the better you will cope.”
