Maitland-Niles Wins Cap in England U19s Victory - Ipswich Town News
Blues loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles played the full 90 minutes and won his sixth England U19s cap as his side defeated Georgia 2-1 in the opening game of their Euro 2016 elite round qualifiers in Spain this afternoon.
Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham gave England the lead in the eighth minute and Tottenham’s Joshua Onomah added the second two minutes later. Guram Goshteliani pulled one back for Georgia on 84.
The Young Lions, who are coached by Aidy Boothroyd, next face Greece on Saturday, then finally the hosts on Tuesday. Only the winners of the group will progress to the finals in Germany in July.
Meanwhile, Christophe Berra starts for Scotland in their friendly against the Czech Republic in Prague this evening (Premier Sports, 7.30pm).
Andre Dozzell starts and Ben Morris is on the bench for the England U17s as they start their Euro 2016 qualifying mini-tournament by taking on Turkey at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium (KO 7pm).
