Injured Murphy to Return to Town - Ipswich Town News
Striker Daryl Murphy will return to Town having suffered what's understood to be a minor calf injury during the Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 friendly victory over Switzerland last night, the FAI have announced.
In a statement on their website, the FAI said Murphy and former Blues skipper Jonathan Walters, these days with Stoke, would be leaving the squad.
"Republic of Ireland players Jonathan Walters and Daryl Murphy are set to return to their clubs over the weekend for assessment and management of injuries.”
Murphy, who was winning his 20th cap, came on as a sub in the 27th minute after Kevin Doyle suffered an ankle injury and made way himself with a tight calf 11 minutes from time. Manager Martin O'Neill said after the game that it was only a minor problem.
The 33-year-old Blues frontman recently missed the games against Nottingham Forest and Bolton due to a calf problem.
Ireland face Slovakia in a second friendly at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Tuesday.
