Murphy a Doubt for Wolves Trip - Ipswich Town News
Town have confirmed that striker Daryl Murphy is a doubt ahead of Saturday’s game at Wolves having suffered a tear to his calf while playing for the Republic of Ireland in their 1-0 friendly victory over Switzerland on Friday.
The 33-year-old, who was winning his 20th cap, came on as a sub in the 27th minute after Kevin Doyle suffered an ankle injury but made way himself with a tight calf 11 minutes from time.
Murphy returned to Town over the weekend having been ruled out of Ireland’s second friendly against Slovakia on Tuesday, also in Dublin.
"Murph has a tear in his calf but we have no timescale over the injury at the moment,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.
"We are looking to get him scanned again on Tuesday and we will know more from there but needless to say, there has to be a concern about him for the weekend.”
Murphy recently missed the games against Nottingham Forest and Bolton, also due to a calf problem.
Meanwhile, Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme is a doubt for Saturday having picked up a stomach bug while away on international duty with Nigeria.
