Crunch Game for Blues England U17s Trio at Euros - Ipswich Town News

Town trio Andre Dozzell, Ben Morris and Nick Hayes could all win caps this afternoon as the England U17s take on Denmark in a crunch final group game at the European Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan (KO 4pm).

The Danes currently lead the group on four points, while Sweden and England are both on three points with the Swedes second as a result of having beaten the Young Lions 2-1 in their opening game.

Sweden play France, who England beat 2-0 in their second fixture on Monday with Dozzell creating the opener for Morris and then playing through the ball which led to the penalty for the second, at the same time, a game which is being shown live on Eurosport Two (from 3.45pm). The top two go through to the knockout stage.

Midfielder Dozzell seems certain to be in the England XI having started the previous two games, while striker Morris is also likely to get the nod. Keeper Hayes, a late call-up as cover for an injury, is set to be on the bench.

England U17s boss Steve Cooper says Denmark, who drew 0-0 with France and beat Sweden 1-0, are a decent side.

"It’s going to be another tough game,” he told TheFA.com. "I think we said before the first game started that there were four good teams in this group with a clear way of playing with a strong identity.

"Denmark have shown that already in their qualification for this tournament and then their first two games here as well, with two good results.

"They’ve shown already they are a very organised group and a very good team with the ball, so we’re looking forward to what will be another tough game — a different test, but our boys will be ready for it, as I’m sure they will be.

Hayes

"Like all of the teams here in Azerbaijan we’ve done our analysis on Denmark and they’ve a number of good players we’ll have to be mindful of in our preparation and when the game kicks-off.

"But they’re not a bunch of individuals, they’re a solid team as well. That’s what you need in this competition and Denmark have both of those, and as I’ve said they have a clear identity about how they want to play."

Dozzell has previously won 14 U17s caps, scoring three goals, Morris eight with the France goal his first and Hayes three.
