Academy to Link Up With AFC Sudbury - Ipswich Town News

Town have agreed a partnership with AFC Sudbury which will see the Blues’ Academy Elite link up with the Ryman North champions’ youth set-up from the start of the 2016/17 season.

The Academy Elite is an advanced group of players which links into the main Academy.

The move will see Academy Elite players join up with part of AFC Sudbury's youth section and form a team which takes part in the Eastern Junior Alliance.

Steve McGavin, head of recruitment at Playford Road, told the club site: "It's something we have been looking to put together for a long time but couldn’t quite find the right club, mainly due to location and facilities.

"What started with an informal discussion with Danny Laws, AFC Sudbury’s director of football, has now turned into something tangible.

"This is a great chance for our Elite players to develop and progress with ITFC Academy coaches and use top class facilities. Some may come back into the Academy but they also have the opportunity to progress through the age groups at AFC Sudbury.”

AFC Sudbury director Keith Morris added: "I am delighted with this partnership with ITFC. It will complement and support the wonderful work currently being undertaken by our Academy and youth section.”
