U16s Defeated in Hospital Cup - Ipswich Town News
Town’s U16s fell to a 2-1 defeat to Norwich City in this year’s Hospital Cup game at Carrow Road this evening, Albert Wilton, one of this summer’s new full-time academy scholars, scoring the Blues’ goal.
Wilton’s goal sandwiched strikes from Glenn Middleton and Anthony Spyrou with all the goals coming in the first half.
The Town youngsters had numerous chances and were unfortunate to lose having had a goal ruled out and having hit a post.
The Hospital Cup, a pre-season staple at first-team level for many years until 1990, was revived as an annual U16s match played between the Blues and Canaries last year when the Norfolk side ran out 3-0 winners at Portman Road. All proceeds from ticket sales went to the East Anglian Children’s Hospice (EACH).
