Patterson on Target in New Zealand Warm-Up Match - Ipswich Town News
Town's Monty Patterson netted the opening goal as New Zealand beat Australian side Western Pride 2-0 in a warm-up game ahead of the OFC Nations Cup in Ipswich, Queensland this morning.
Midfielder or striker Patterson, 19, who was playing his first game for the senior All Whites side, curled home a freekick in the ninth minute. Strasbourg’s Bill Tuiloma scored the second goal on 57.
The squad, which also includes former Town loanee Rory Fallon but not Tommy Smith, is currently at a training camp in Brisbane.
The All Whites take on Fiji in their opening game of the tournament on Saturday 28th May, then face Vanuatu three days later before completing their group matches against the Solomon Islands on Saturday 4th June with all their games in Port Moresby.
