Reports over the weekend claim that Marcus Stewart is being lined-up to replace Kevin Phillips at Sunderland. Former Town target Phillips is keen to leave the Stadium of Light to further his international ambitions.

Stewart, it is claimed, will be a £6 million summer target of Peter Reid should Phillips move on.

If Town go down they would be in no position to refuse offers for players at anything approaching that figure.
