Tabb Training With Burton Albion - Ipswich Town News

Released Blues midfielder Jay Tabb is training with Championship new boys Burton Albion.

Tabb, 32, left Portman Road at the end of last season after just over three years at Portman Road having initially joined on loan from Reading in March 2013.

The former Republic of Ireland U21 international made only four appearances during 2015/16, all in cup competitions, scoring once.

Speaking at the end of last season, manager Mick McCarthy paid tribute to Tabb: "He’s been fabulous, he’s one who without playing a [Championship] game all season could have won the ‘most selfless player award’ because he comes and trains every day.

"When he’s played in the cup games he’s played well, he trains well, he’s a prime example to any young player. He really is a fantastic character.”

In total, the one-time Brentford and Coventry man made 61 starts and 24 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring five goals.
