Foley on Trial at Charlton - Ipswich Town News
Ex-Town right-back Kevin Foley is on trial with League One Charlton Athletic.
Foley, 31, was reunited with his old Wolves boss Mick McCarthy at Town in January on a short-term deal replacing Jonny Parr, who had moved back to Norway with Strømsgodset.
Former Republic of Ireland international Foley went on to make six starts and two sub appearances for the Blues.
At the end of the season McCarthy left the door open to Foley’s return — "It’s an ongoing discussion” — but at the start of pre-season training confirmed that the one-time Luton Town and FC Copenhagen man would not be coming back to Portman Road with skipper Luke Chambers and 18-year-old Josh Emmanuel set to be the Blues’ right-backs during 2016/17.
Foley, who is playing for the Addicks in a friendly against Bromley this evening, could face his old team-mates when Town travel to The Valley for a pre-season match on Tuesday 26th July.
