Youngsters Defeated at Hadleigh - Ipswich Town News
A young Town Academy XI lost 2-1 to Hadleigh United in the Kris Rose Testimonial at their Millfield ground this afternoon with first-year scholar Albert Wilton (pictured) netting the Blues’ goal.
Hadleigh opened the scoring after six minutes when Ben Golding took advantage of a mix-up in the Ipswich defence to roll the ball into an unguarded net.
A close-range header by Wilton levelled the score but, on the stroke of half-time, Elliott Ballard restored the United lead with a stunning shot.
Both sides toiled in the sweltering conditions, but although Town had the better of the second half, they could not find a way past the outstanding Sam Hunt in the Hadleigh goal.
