Close-season transfer speculation linking Town striker Daryl Murphy with a move elsewhere has been dismissed by the player himself.
Murphy said: "It’s just paper talk really — the usual — but I’m quite happy here and always have been. Apparently there’s been interest in me, according to the papers, but I haven’t heard anything.
"I saw the thing about me going to Newcastle, who are a massive club coming down to the Championship. I think they have kept most of their players from last season and added other players so they will be very hard to beat this season.”
Far from looking to leave, Murphy’s main aim is to get back to the form that made him the Championship’s leading scorer with 27 goals two seasons ago.
"I’d like to think I can do that,” he added. "I feel in good shape at the minute but we’ll see. I’m not setting myself any targets — I just want to get off the mark as soon as I can and hopefully against Barnsley on Saturday.”
Meanwhile, Murphy has revealed that ex-Town boss Roy Keane still retains a soft spot for the club, despite being sacked in January 2011 after 20 months in charge that resulted in 28 wins from his 81 games in charge.
Keane is now assistant to Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill and Murphy said: "I’ve always said that I have always got on with Roy Keane, from when he was manager of Sunderland and manager here at Ipswich to now.
"If you get on with your work and give everything you have you’ll have no problems.
"I see people saying they have problems with him and stuff like that. I don’t understand that.
"With Ireland he has been brilliant — he comes and talk to the players, lets them know their jobs and what he and the manager want from them. He’s a good barrier between the manager and the lads.
"Any time I’m away with Ireland he’ll ask how it is at Ipswich, if I’m enjoying it and stuff like that.
"He had a house here for quite a while and last year when I was talking to him I think he’d only just sold it. It’s clear he still has an interest in the club.”
