Boro Bid Denial - Ipswich Town News
Town manager George Burley has denied that the club has received a £6 million bid for Kieron Dyer from Middlesbrough. Reports had suggested that Bryan Robson was keen to get the man last week called the 'new Gazza' in a midfield with the old, alcoholic, tubby one. It still seem Leeds lead the less than furious chase for Kieron's signature, with reports that they are now offering Danny Granville, £5m and possibly still Bruno Ribeiro (depending on which reports you read). It seems Town turned down the previous cash plus players deal involving Ribeiro, Clyde Wijnhard and £4m. Former England U21 player Granville is a left-back, although he has been known to play in midfield. With Jamie Clapham impressive last season on the left side of defence I doubt Town would be looking to bring in a player valued at £1.5 in this position. However, Clapham has played in midfield for Town and with Bobby Petta by no means a certainty for Town next season, George Burley might see Granville as a useful acquisition.
On the contracts front still no word from Richard Wright or James Scowcroft on their extensions or Lee Bracey and Bobby Petta on whether they are staying at Portman Road.
