Development Squad to Play at U23 Level - Ipswich Town News
Town’s development squad will be playing U23 rather than U21 football in the season ahead with the Professional Development League Two switching age group.
As in previous years clubs will be able to name three overage players and an overage keeper in their matchday squads.
Town’s U23s, now coached by Gerard Nash (pictured) following Mark Kennedy’s departure to coach Manchester City’s U15s, get their Professional Development League Two South season under way with a game against their Sheffield United counterparts at Stocksbridge Park Steels’ Look Local Stadium next Monday (KO 1pm). They face Birmingham in their first home game a week later.
The full fixture list can be found here, although as ever it is likely to be subject to amendments as the season progresses.
The Blues’ U18s, who are now coached by Alan Lee and Chris Hogg, have had their opening match of the season against Barnsley, initially scheduled for Saturday, moved to Saturday 24th September.
