U23s at QPR, U18s at Home to Watford - Ipswich Town News

Town’s U23s are in action at QPR this afternoon (KO 2pm), while the Blues' U18s play their first home fixture of the season on Saturday morning when Watford visit Playford Road (KO 11am).

The game against the West Londoners is at Loftus Road and is being shown live on QPR Player HD, to which subscribers to Ipswich Player HD have access.

The U23s, who are now coached by Gerard Nash, are looking for their first win of the season having lost their opening fixture 2-1 at Sheffield United, before falling to a 3-2 home defeat to Birmingham City on Monday.

Trialist striker Leon Best scored in that game but seems unlikely to play today with manager Mick McCarthy having said the former Ireland international will train with the senior squad this morning.

With the first team in action at home to Preston tomorrow, few if any senior players will be involved this afternoon.

The U18s made an impressive start to their campaign at Nottingham Forest last week when they came from 2-0 behind at half-time to win 3-2 with Tristan Nydam, Luke Woolfenden and Conor McKendry netting the goals.
