Stewart Exits Town - Ipswich Town News

Winger Cameron Stewart has left the Blues by mutual consent. The 25-year-old had a year remaining on his contract but was firmly out of manager Mick McCarthy’s plans.

Stewart joined the Blues two years ago having been released by Hull City and after a move to Leeds United broke down, but made only two sub appearances for Town, both in the FA Cup ties against Southampton in January 2015.

"I would like to wish the lads and the management team all the best for the rest of the season,” Stewart told the club site.

"Ipswich Town is a fantastic football club but unfortunately things haven’t gone as I would have like them to over the last two seasons.

"I am now looking forward to a new challenge and hope that once the transfer window has closed I may be in a better position to resume my career elsewhere.”

McCarthy added: "It has not worked out for Cameron here but that happens in football sometimes. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Stewart spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers, having been with Barnsley for a short spell at the end of the previous campaign.
