New Loanee Lawrence Could Win Wales Cap - Ipswich Town News

New Town loan signing Tom Lawrence could win his fifth full cap when Wales take on Moldova in their opening World Cup qualifier at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday evening (Sky Sports One from 7pm, kick-off 7.45pm).

The 22-year-old, who joined the Blues for the season from Leicester last week, is likely to be among the subs. Lawrence missed out on a place in the Euro 2016 squad due to an ankle ligament injury.

Fellow Welshman Jonny Williams, who re-signed on loan at Portman Road from Crystal Palace last week, is currently sidelined with an ankle problem he suffered in pre-season and isn’t expected to return to action until October.

Elsewhere, Blues central defender Christophe Berra was an unused sub as Scotland beat nine-man Malta 5-1 in their first World Cup qualifier at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, Town’s U23s are in action at Playford Road on Monday afternoon when they face Millwall (KO 1pm).
