More Football Memories Sessions After Successful Launch - Ipswich Town News

Football Memories will be back at selected Sue Ryder Synergy Cafés later this month after a successful launch session in Ipswich on June 28th, which was attended by six former Town players.

The sessions are ideal for older people with short-term memory problems or just those who are isolated and love talking football.

The original project is thriving in Scotland, while this initiative is being developed in Suffolk by Town fan Steve Robbins and friend Jeff Arnold. Former Blues Allan Hunter, Mick Lambert, John Wark, Bryan Hamilton, Ian Collard and Titus Bramble were at the launch session.

Steve, who has a large resource bank of books and photos of Ipswich Town as well as other clubs, said: "It's amazing how someone who struggles to remember what they did yesterday can have their past unlocked by the stimulus of old football photos and chat with fellow football fans.”

The next informal sessions are at Haverhill Synergy Café, West End Congregational Church, Withersfield Road on Tuesday September 27th at 11.30am and on the same day at 2pm at Ipswich Synergy Café at The Stables, The Chantry.

Also that week there is another session at the Newmarket Synergy Café at 11.30am on Thursday September 29th. The address for that is Childwick House, Howard de Walden Way.

If you intend to come along or bring someone to any of the sessions, book a place by calling 01473 295200 and ask for Community Services. More dates will follow in Sudbury and Bury in October with details available soon.
