Fans Using Flares Face Bans - Ipswich Town News
Town have warned that anyone caught throwing or in possession of a flare at Portman Road on a matchday faces an indefinite ban from the ground in addition to possible police action.
A number of arrests were made at the East Anglian derby against Norwich City last month after flares were thrown.
A statement on the Town website reads: "Ipswich Town would like to remind all supporters that anyone caught in possession of a flare or seen throwing one on matchday at Portman Road faces being banned from attending games indefinitely. Police action could also be taken.
"Flares can cause considerable distress and harm to those in close proximity when let off and in extreme circumstances can even be fatal.
"The club has zero tolerance to their use and will use CCTV and witnesses to take action against guilty parties if necessary.
"In addition, a trained sniffer dog will be in operation in the match against Aston Villa.”
