Gorleston Youngster Set for Trial - Ipswich Town News
Town are taking 17-year-old Gorleston striker Connor Ingram on trial next week.
Greens youth product Ingram has scored nine goals and picked up three assists in 13 matches for the Norfolk side, who are unbeaten in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division so far this season, and netted a hat-trick for their U18s in a 5-4 FA Youth Cup defeat at Framlingham on Thursday.
Gorleston boss Ricci Butler says Ingram’s success in the early weeks of this season is down to hard graft.
"Connor worked really hard last year when playing for the reserves and scored 50-odd goals, then during this pre-season he really knuckled down,” he told the Great Yarmouth Mercury.
"He’s bulked out a bit and to be fair to him, he plays with absolutely no fear, because there’s no pressure on him.
"It’s a bit different to a player like Jack Garrod, who knows there’s a little bit of pressure on him, coming in from Wroxham and being well known in local football.
"Jack knows he needs to turn it on a little bit but with Connor, we just give him a shirt and tell him to go and enjoy it. If he scores then enjoy it but if he doesn’t, it doesn’t matter.”
