Bishop, Williams and Varney in U23s Facing Cardiff - Ipswich Town News

Teddy Bishop, Jonny Williams and Luke Varney will all feature for Town’s U23s when they face Cardiff City at Portman Road this evening (KO 7pm).

Williams, a late sub at Newcastle on Saturday, is continuing his comeback after the ankle injury he suffered in pre-season while with parent club Crystal Palace, while Bishop will get another game under his belt having been an unused sub at St James’ Park.

Varney has been out of the first-team matchday 18 in recent weeks having struggled to get to full fitness after picking up a hamstring problem while playing for the U23s against Leeds last month.

Dean Gerken will be in goal, while Paul Digby, who has recently been playing in central midfield rather than at centre-half, is also in Gerard Nash’s side.

Meanwhile, Town have confirmed that keeper Michael Crowe will be out for around three months having ruptured ankle ligaments in last Monday’s U23s 2-2 draw at Colchester.

Admission to the Cobbold Stand only is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, while season ticket holders can get in free.
