Two Scandinavians Linked - Ipswich Town News

Town are reportedly looking at two Scandinavian players, Sogndal's Tommy Øren from Norway and Dane Thomas Frandsen who plays for Viborg FF. Both are internationals and are highly-rated.

Øren, who has missed a lot of this season with injury, has previously been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, Spurs, a number of Italian sides and French club Bordeaux. He also had a trial at Leeds in 1999.

The 21-year-old made his full international debut in January 2001 after impressing in the U21s.

He is aware of interest from Town: "I know about Ipswich's interest. I still have some way to go before I'm in top form again, meanwhile I'm happy in Sogndal."

His manager at Sogndal, Torbjorn Glomnes says he will have to sell players: "To sell our players is natural for us. If we sell, other good youngsters will get a chance. That is only positive for the club."

Previously Sogndal have slapped a £6 million price-tag on Øren's head.

Thomas Frandsen is a 26-year-old midfielder who was recently called into the Denmark squad for the game with Ireland.

The Blues were watching him last week when he was in the Viborg FF side which beat Silkeborg 3-2. An inspiring second half display from Australian striker Sasho Pertrovski may also have caught the eye of the Town scout.

Frandsen, described as strong with the ball and as a hard tackler, started his career as a defender, but moved to midfield and takes Viborg's penalties.
