McCarthy: Owner Remains Very Supportive - Ipswich Town News

Mick McCarthy says owner Marcus Evans remains as supportive now, during what the Town boss admits is the toughest spell of his time at Portman Road, as he was when the Blues were in the play-off places.

Despite some fans calling for McCarthy's head, Evans is unlikely to be looking at making a change with the Town owner having shown patience with his managers in the past.

The Blues are currently 16th, six points off their pre-season target of the play-offs and four points from the relegation zone.

"I have always enjoyed a very good relationship with Marcus,” McCarthy told Ipswich Player HD in an interview reflecting on his four years at the club, yesterday having been the anniversary of his appointment.

"I don’t see lot of him but we speak after every game and he rang me on Sunday morning after the Rotherham game.

"The conversation is always a lot easier when you are in the top six than where we are at the moment. It’s a lot happier conversation but Marcus was no different to usual.

"He has always been very supportive and nothing has changed. He is the same now as when we were in the play-off places. He knows what we are striving for.”
