Former Blue Aaron Cresswell’s possible England debut won’t lead to a windfall for Town, TWTD understands. The West Ham left-back was a late call into Gareth Southgate's squad last night.
It had been understood that the deal which took the left-back to the Hammers in the summer of 2014 had included a clause which would see the Blues receive a top-up if the former Tranmere man were to make an international appearance, however that is not the case.
West Ham paid the Blues an initial £3.75 million with the fee potentially rising to £7 million, but with all the top-up clauses relating to appearances for the Hammers. Town have already received a substantial further sum with several of those appearance milestones having been passed.
Cresswell, 26, has made 93 starts for the Hammers, 78 in the Premier League, and has scored four goals.

Clauses relating to international appearances usually relate to competitive games in any case and Cresswell seems unlikely to face Scotland in Friday’s World Cup qualifier with his debut more likely to come in next Tuesday’s friendly against Spain.
Meanwhile, another ex-Town full-back, David Wright, has joined Norwich City's staff as their U18s coach having previously been in the same role at Colchester United.
