Town Launch New Academy Website - Ipswich Town News

Town have launched a new website for their Playford Road Academy.

The site outlines the aims of the Academy and its future plans, as well as news and information on the various squads and coaching staff.

Details of how to join TWTD in becoming an academy sponsor can also be found on the site, along with testimonials from other current sponsors.

Moving from Category Two to Category One remains an aim, although given the finance now involved this is more likely if the club is promoted to the Premier League.

"Ipswich Town’s Academy strives to become a Category One Academy and one of the most successful producers of young players in the country,” a section of the vision statement featured on the site reads.

"It wants to become established as being one of the best nationally, and the best locally, for its productivity and its care for the young player.”

The club remains committed to continuing "to increase the number of homegrown players who appear in the first team”, refining the previous target of 50 per cent of the first team squad by the start of next season to year-on-year aims:

"To produce one player per season who makes a minimum of five appearances in the first team.

"To produce one player per season who (as a loan player) makes regular appearances in the first team of a Football League club

"To ensure that three players graduate from the U18 squad to PDL [Professional Development League U23s] squad.

"To ensure a minimum of 60 per cent of scholars have come from Ipswich Town’s Academy registered schoolboys.”
