Strong U23s Side Facing Huddersfield in Premier League Cup - Ipswich Town News

Brett Pitman, Kevin Bru, Leon Best, Jonny Williams, Dean Gerken and Josh Emmanuel are all set to feature for a strong U23s side taking on Huddersfield in the Premier League Cup at Portman Road this evening (KO 7pm).

Pitman will be playing his first game since suffering an ankle injury at Leeds at the end of September.

The Premier League Cup, which was introduced at the start of the season, emulates the format of the Champions League with 32 teams involved in the group stage and the top two in each going through to the last 16. From there the ties will be one-off, knockout games with extra-time and penalties if required.

Town lost 3-0 at home to Liverpool in their opening group game before defeating West Brom 2-1, also at Portman Road.

Huddersfield have lost both their matches and are bottom of the group with the Blues second behind the Baggies on goal difference and Liverpool top on six points.

Entry is free to season ticket holders and those aged under-16, while admission costs £3 for adults and £1 for the over-60s, students and under-20s.

U23s: Gerken, Emmanuel, Kenlock, C Smith, Fowler, Bru, McDonnell, Williams, Benyu, Best, Pitman. Subs: Hayes, Marshall, Wilton, Blanchfield, McLoughlin.
