Midfielder Kundai Benyu is joining Vanarama National League Aldershot Town on a month’s youth loan.
Benyu, who turns 19 on Monday, has been on the fringes of the first team in recent weeks but so far without making it onto the bench, having apologised to manager Mick McCarthy at the start of pre-season for having an "attitude problem” last term.
Prior to that the Camden-born youngster, whose contract is currently due to end in June, was a sub for the senior side on four occasions, twice in the Championship in the 2014/15 campaign, including the Norwich derby at Carrow Road, and twice in the League Cup last season, but so far but without making his first-team debut.
Shots manager Gary Waddock is pleased to have added Benyu to his midfield options.
"Kundai is another exciting young player who will add extra depth and quality to the squad," he told his club's official website.
"He is very good technically and bolsters an area where we are currently short on numbers.
"Both [assistant manager] James [Rowe] and myself have seen him develop in the Ipswich Town academy and we look forward to working with him on this next stage in his development.”
Benyu, whose spell at Aldershot is due to end on January 7th, could make his debut when the Shots take on East Thurrock United away in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
With the emergency loan provision no longer available to EFL clubs, the Vanarama National League is currently the top division where Town can send young players out for spells to gain experience.
Striker or midfielder Monty Patterson is with Braintree until the end of the year, while defender Joe Robinson is with Boston, who play in the Vanarama National North, also until the end of 2016.
Young Blues keeper Jacob Marsden is currently with Ryman League Premier Division Leiston, who he saw to a 5-3 penalty shoot-out victory at Eastbourne Borough in an FA Trophy replay last night following a 2-2 draw.
Academy defender Kolade Salaudeen is on loan with Grays Athletic, who also play in the Ryman League Premier Division.
