Players Make Christmas Hospital Visits - Ipswich Town News

The Town squad have spent this week making their annual Christmas visits to local hospitals and hospices, delivering presents and spending time with patients.

Members of the squad have visited the children’s wards at Ipswich Hospital, Colchester Hospital and West Suffolk Hospital, as well as St Nicholas Hospice, St Elizabeth Hospice and East Anglia’s Children's Hospice (EACH).

The players provided money to buy presents and food, which was supplied by sponsors the East of England Co-op.

"It's a humbling experience and something that has become a tradition in football as we approach Christmas," manager Mick McCarthy told the club site.

"Our lads are great with the work they do in the community and if the visits can put a smile on the faces of youngsters at a very difficult time for them and their parents, then everyone wins.

"The work that is put in to arrange the visits is fantastic and it is a humbling experience. It's a great thing to do and I know our lads all enjoy getting involved."
