Bent in England Action - Ipswich Town News

Town's Darren Bent was in the England U19s side which beat Lithuania 2-1 at Nottingham Forest's City Ground this afternoon, but was replaced with an achilles injury in the second half.

The win means that Martin Hunter's team won 3-2 on aggregate and will be involved in this summer's European Under-19 Championships in July.

Bent was replaced by Newcastle's Michael Chopra in the 68th minute and it was Chopra who scored the first England goal on 75 while Arsenal's Jermaine Pennant added the second a minute later.

Bent's injury was not serious enough to keep him from attending Town's game at Highbury where his best friend Darren Ambrose made his debut.

Town's Matt Bloomfield was in the England U19 squad but didn't play in either the first leg in Lithuania or today's match as he was suffering with a groin injury.

England team: Grant, Hoyte, Garry, Bowditch (Fox, 85), Johnson, Clark, Pennant, Welsh, Cole (Moore, 53), O'Neil (Capt), Bent (Chopra, 68).
