Daggers Striker Hawkins Linked - Ipswich Town News

Town are reported to be showing interest in Dagenham and Redbridge striker Oliver Hawkins.

According to HITC, the Blues are considering a January move for the 24-year-old, who joined the Vanarama National League Daggers from National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town a year ago.

Since then Hawkins has scored 15 goals - all but one of them this season - in 30 starts and 14 sub appearances.

The 6ft 2in tall Ealing-born frontman, who had stints with North Greenford United, Hillingdon Borough and Northwood prior to his time with Hemel Hempstead and subsequently a spell out on loan at Harrow Borough, has previously been linked with Rotherham and Brighton.

While it would be little surprise that Town are keeping tabs on Hawkins, who is contracted to the Daggers for another 18 months, manager Mick McCarthy recently hinted that he would be looking for players with Championship experience during this window with the Blues understood to be closing in on the additions of strikers Danny Ward and Cauley Woodrow from Rotherham and Fulham respectively.
