Reserves Go Top - Ipswich Town News
Town's reserves registered yet another win this afternoon, beating Southampton's second string 2-0 to go top of the FA Premier Reserve League (South). First half goals from Robert Dickinson and Darren Bent gave the Blues the points.
Dickinson opened the scoring on seven when he cut in from the left and hit a shot across Southampton keeper Williams and into the net. Bent struck five minutes later, turning and powerfully hitting a bouncing ball into the roof of the net.
Town were rarely in trouble with Southampton's best opportunity coming form the spot in the last five minutes. Kevin Davies, who had been felled by a combination of the impressive Wayne Brown and Lee Beevers, weakly put the kick to Lewis Price's left and the keeper kicked it away.
