Town Sign Macclesfield Winger - Ipswich Town News

Town have announced the signing of Macclesfield winger Danny Rowe for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old has signed a contract until the summer of 2020 with an option for a further season.

"It’s been a hectic few days,” Rowe told the club site. "I was told that Ipswich were interested in me earlier in the week and I drove down today once I was told it had all been agreed.

"It’s an exciting move for me, joining a massive club like Ipswich and I can’t wait to get going.

"I know I have a lot to prove but I’ll be working as hard as I can to show everyone what I can do."

Manchester-born Rowe, whose elder brother Tommy plays for Doncaster, was with the Bolton Wanderers academy as a youngster but broke into senior football with Stockport County in 2009 during the Hatters' time in League One.

Rowe, who is left-footed but often operates on the right, moved on to Barrow in July 2012 before joining Macclesfield the following summer. After a spell out of the game, Rowe returned to the Silkmen at the start of 2015 and since then has been a regular for the Vanarama National League side.

In total he made 119 appearances for the Cheshire club and has scored 15 goals, eight of them in his 28 starts and two sub appearances this season.

Barnet recently had a £100,000 offer for Rowe, while Derby, Rotherham, Walsall and Port Vale have also been reported to have been showing interest.

He added: "I made my debut in the Football League for Stockport against Leeds at Elland Road and it’s a fantastic feeling to be back to that level again.

"Macclesfield have been great for me and I’d like to thank everyone there for helping me progress as a player.”

Rowe will meet up with the rest of the squad at Preston tomorrow but won’t be involved against the Lilywhites.
