TWTD understands Town were among a legion of clubs to send a scout to watch Stevenage beat Grimsby 2-0 this afternoon with Mariners striker Omar Bogle likely to have been the reason for their trip.
Bogle, 24, has been linked with a host of Championship clubs during this transfer window including Rotherham, who are reported to have had a number of bids rebuffed, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Reading.
The former Solihull Moors striker has scored 19 times this season for the League Two Mariners, having netted 16 goals as the Lincolnshire club won promotion from the Vanarama National League through the play-offs last season.
Town are keen to add another striker to their ranks before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Tuesday, however, manager Mick McCarthy has been targeting frontmen with Championship experience including Jordan Hugill, who scored Preston’s equaliser this afternoon, and Rotherham’s Danny Ward.
