Town are hoping that new central defender Steven Taylor’s international clearance will come through in time for him to be available for this evening’s game against Derby County.
The 31-year-old, who has been handed the number two shirt, signed a contract with the Blues which runs to the end of the season yesterday but wasn’t expected to be available until Saturday with international clearance required as his previous club was US side the Portland Timbers, who he left at the end of last year.
Town are understood to have stepped up their attempts to get the paperwork on Taylor’s ratified with skipper and fellow centre-half Luke Chambers having been targeted by his former club Nottingham Forest ahead of this evening's 11pm transfer deadline. Talks regarding that proposed deal are still understood to be ongoing.
