Tranmere Squad - Ipswich Town News

Town's squad for tomorrow's game at Tranmere: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Clapham, Stockwell, Croft, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Scowcroft, Johnson, Stewart, Naylor and Axeldal. As stated earlier McGreal and Stewart are very doubtful starters.

Richard Wright has been named in the England U21 squad to play Yugoslavia in the European Championship play-off match in Barcelona on March 29. Full squad: Ball Everton, Barry Aston Villa, Bridges Leeds, Carragher Liverpool, Chadwick Man Utd, Cole West Ham, Cort Wimbledon, Curtis Man Utd, Dyer Newcastle, Ferdinand West Ham, Gerrard Liverpool, Harley Chelsea, Hendrie Aston Villa, Heskey Liverpool, Johnson Derby, Lampard West Ham, Mills Leeds, Morris Chelsea, Robinson Leeds, Smith Leeds, Weaver Man City, Wright Ipswich, and Young Tottenham.

Town's pitch is in line for an award. Groundsman Alan Ferguson has done well in his period at Town and he now finds his pitch in the divisional Pitch of the Season. Opposition in the pitch battle comes from Blackburn and West Brom. Ferguson has also been chosen to help start The Football Association and Institute of Groundsmen's move to develop a recognised standard for the training of groundsmen (and presumably women) nationally.

Town's U19 Academy team beat Southampton 3-1 on Saturday and are therefore through their Play-Offs (ugh). They take on Blackburn Rovers next at their training ground at Brockhall Village. The game is on Saturday 25th March at 11am.
