Burley on Bent and Win - Ipswich Town News

George Burley concentrated on Darren Bent after Town's win against Middlesbrough. The Town boss swapped both his strikers on 57 and it paid off soon afterwards.

Burley said: "When I looked at our forwards I didn't think it was their night.

"So I brought Marcus Stewart and Marcus Bent off. I decided to change it early."

"Darren is a player that can score goals, he has shown that from being a youngster and from when I gave him his debut earlier this season he has developed as a player."

It was Bent's first Premiership goal, his second for the first team and his 32nd of the season at all levels for Town and the England U19s.

Of the match itself the Blues' boss said: "It was a game we had to win to give us a chance to stay up.

"Everybody wrote us off over the last few weeks but we have shown the courage, appetite and determination and we have a couple of games to keep us in the Premiership.

"We still have a mountain to climb but we will not give up without a fight."

Boro manager Steve McClaren reckons Town have a chance against his old club Manchester United on Saturday: "On their day any team can win any football match.

"If they show the same attitude and quality of football they showed against us anything can happen. I came here last year with United and we were lucky to get a point."
