Bent on Goal - Ipswich Town News
Town striker Darren Bent was unsurprisingly chuffed with his match-winning goal during last night's game. Bent had been on the field just seconds when he got to a Jamie Clapham corner to put the ball in the net.
Bent said: "It was the best feeling. I didn't really know too much about it — the ball came over and fell to me quickly and I just stuck a knee out and the ball went in.
"It turned out to be the winner and gave us the three points which hopefully will help us get out of relegation.
"It was my first Premiership goal and hopefully the first of many but you can't get better than that in terms of importance.
"We have now put a bit more pressure on Sunderland and they will be looking at us thinking we only need one more win to go above them."
He may even have had another goal in the closing stages but he says he snatched at his shot and the ball screwed wide.
Bent haws now scored 32 goals this season at all levels for Town and the England U19s.
