Dinner for Boys of 62 - Ipswich Town News

Friday night sees members of Sir Alf Ramsey's First Division championship-winning side welcomed back to Portman Road as guests of honour at Town's annual ex-players' dinner.

Most of the squad which won the title will be present along with their partners at the evening held at the Galleria and organised by Ramsey's former secretary Pat Godbold, now Town's archivist.

Sadly Roy Bailey and Roy Stephenson have past away, but with the exception of reserve keeper Wilf Hall, the rest of the side will be in attendance including Bill Baxter. The Scotsman is returning to Town for the first time since his late sixties spat with then manager Bobby Robson.

Earlier there is a golf day at Waldringfield while the heroes of 62 will also be at Saturday's match with Manchester United.

As well as the '62 team members of other Town sides of the past will be present at the dinner including TWTD columnist John Wark, Mick Mills, Roger Osborne and Russell Osman.
