Hyam Set for U23s Return - Ipswich Town News
Midfielder Luke Hyam has been pencilled in to make his long-awaited return to action with the U23s next week, the 25-year-old having been out of action since the pre-season friendly at Cambridge United with a knee injury, which eventually required surgery.
"Luke is back training now and he will probably play next week for the U23s,” manager Mick McCarthy told the club site.
"That’s great news for us and more importantly great news for Luke. He’s been out a long time and has had to deal with the mental stresses and strains that go with a long injury.”
Town’s U23s are in Premier League Cup action against West Brom at the Hawthorns on Monday with Tommy Smith also likely to feature (KO 7pm).
The 26-year-old New Zealand international played in Monday’s 8-0 walloping of Watford’s U23s, his first game since undergoing back surgery in September.
