Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s yet to sound Toumani Diagouraga out about joining the Blues on a permanent basis in the summer, as he has with fellow loanee Emyr Huws, but says he expects the Frenchman to be surplus to requirements at Leeds.
"No, I haven’t,” said McCarthy when asked if he had spoken to Diagouraga. "It sounds like I’ve favoured one rather than the other but it’s not the case. I was just talking to Ems and I asked him how he felt.
"I think Toums would be surplus to requirements at Leeds as well but Ems certainly was at the time [at Cardiff], I don’t know, that might change but I think Neil Warnock is signing a new contract and if the feeling is still the same then I kind of know what will be happening with him, and he does as well.”
McCarthy has already confirmed that Leon Best, who he has said won’t play for him again, and Giles Coke will be leaving at the end of the season but says he’s not in a position to reveal whether anyone else will be moving on.
"No, none that I would be prepared to discuss,” he added. "Giles has been injured and I had the discussion with him months ago, he knew full well what his position was. I just hope we can get him fit and he can go and, hopefully, play somewhere else.”
McCarthy says he’s not yet been able to look at planning for next season in any great detail.
"I’ll be honest with you, over the last six or eight weeks I’ve not been doing anything other than trying to find a solution to how we were playing and trying to get us playing better,” he continued.
"Of course, I’ve got an eye on everything that’s going on. But for now I just want to make sure we keep picking up points and make sure we’ve got enough then we can deal with it.”
