McCarthy Not Ruling Out Summer Move for Barnsley's Watkins - Ipswich Town News
Town boss Mick McCarthy admits he’s a fan of versatile Barnsley man Marley Watkins and was coy when asked whether he might be a player he could move for in the summer.
Watkins, 26, was the subject of a rebuffed £1 million offer last summer and Town were again linked with the midfielder or striker in January.
"Yes, we’d seen him before but we kind of picked him up more when we were doing the analysis playing against them in the first game of the season," McCarthy said when asked if he was a fan of Watkins.
"Everything we watched we liked and whenever I’ve seen him since I do like him.”
Might he be one he moves for in the summer? "I don’t know. We’ll see, he’s out of contract.”
